Data Protection Authorities Consultation Meeting was held in Istanbul

Data Protection Authorities Consultation Meeting was held in Istanbul on June 6, 2024, hosted by our Authority.

The meeting was attended by the Presidents and representatives of the Data Protection Authorities of Azerbaijan, Algeria, Morocco, Qatar, Malaysia and Mali. In the first session of the meeting organized in two sessions, following the opening speech, the representatives of the participating countries gave information about the structure of the data protection authorities and the personal data protection legislation in their countries.

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Faruk BİLİR, President of our Authority, emphasized the importance of human-centered approach in privacy problems arising due to technological developments and stated that it is of great importance to establish a strong communication mechanism between data protection authorities, to carry out safe country studies and to establish a legal infrastructure for this purpose.

In the second session of the meeting, the participating countries discussed the nature of the joint structure to be established in order to exchange information, views and experience on common issues related to the protection of personal data, to coordinate efforts to improve the field of personal data protection among the participating countries and to contribute to the environment of friendship between these countries.

Participating countries expressed their satisfaction for holding such a meeting and thanked Prof. Dr. Faruk BİLİR, President of our Authority for hosting the meeting. The meeting ended after the determination of the country to host the next meeting and the good wishes of the participating countries.
